The impressive thing about it is the only thing going on in the movie while the music is playing is some guy is running around in a graveyard. So for a few songs at least, I think the sound of the new mixes more than justifies the cost of the album. You’ve gotta decide what “naked” version of “Across the Universe” you are going to use, I’m partial to the one on Anthology 2, but there are several possibilities. But for some weird reason the producers decided the world needed another version, so we got yet another version with a solo from George Harrison patched in from someplace else.

The word “sterile” is one Ive often used to describe it and it completely takes away from the live atmosphere…certainly far more than the original album ever did.The film sound rolls recorded at Apple (after their decision to move back to their studio there) disclose how much the atmosphere of the sessions had improved. given the original multi-track tapes, and mixed the album from scratch making their own choices to select the best takes.

I’m not sure how I missed this the first time around, but the remixed versions of some of these songs sound pretty amazing. Naked consists largely of newly mixed versions of the Let It Be tracks while omitting the excerpts of incidental studio chatter and most of Spector's embellishments. Across the Universe" – a remix of the original version recorded on 4 February 1968, without speed/pitch alteration, sound effects, piano, maracas and backing vocals; with echo effects unique to this version. Our old friend soniclovenoize has a version you can check out here that is way better than what the producers came up with for Let It Be…Naked.To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. The fact that these are as recorded in the studio, untampered with and without overdubbing simply confirms that this is nothing short of a near masterpiece.
